Active Imagination...the way out.

What's this blog all about? >>>Active Imagination is a concept developed by Carl Jung. "It is a meditation technique wherein one's emotions are translated into images, narrative, or personified as separate entities." This blog is an 'energy station' wherein I attempt to broadcast my emotions (psychic-energy)into a narrative. The narrative is the story of Fuego and his journey to burn Repress City. I guess on some level you could call "Fuego" my imaginary friend.

In the first Matrix film, Morpheus correctly states: "The Matrix is everywhere, it is all around us, even now in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on television. You can feel it when you go to work, when you go to church, when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over to blind you from the truth." If we look at just the last 200 years of history we can see that all large scale events from world wars to great famines, political movements and revolutions; have all been staged and in step with a planned agenda; indeed all the world is a stage. But is it really? I guess it depends on what we mean by the term 'world', or even more importantly what do we mean by 'real'.

The term 'world' is beyond all meaning, in other words it can not be confined to one specific meaning or interpretation. The term 'world' can be used to describe the physical world, the world of science, the world of sports. We can even use the term in a personal way as in "she is always in her world", "I am master of my world", and many other different interpretations. There is even a saying that states "every mind is a world of it's own". So when Shakespeare writes "the world is a stage" what world was he referring to? Perhaps he was talking about the "real world"...but what is real?

To answer this most profound question let's return to the Matrix and ask Morpheus...so Mr. Morpheus, what is real? Morpheus: "If real is what you can feel, smell, taste, and see, then 'real' is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain." In saying this Morpheus is telling us an ancient secret, namely that what we have been taught (programmed) to believe is the real world is nothing more than an illusion. The problem with this truth is that it spins people off into 'la la' land, and although the matrix may be nothing but an illusion it doesn't help knowing this if you are being chased by dogs or shot at by the police. Imagine somebody being chased by the police screaming "this is an illusion!".

Dreams are a sort of illusion yet if you ever had a nightmare you know firsthand how 'real' they can be. Perhaps Edgar Allan Poe said it best when he wrote "All that we see or seam is nothing but a dream within a dream." But back to Mr. Morpheus and his use of the term 'world'. He said "it is the world that has been pulled over you to blind you from the truth". We can see that everything he refers to is in the physical world. "You can see it when you look out your window..when you turn on television...when you go to work...when you go to church...when you pay taxes..." since all of these events happen 'outside' of us it is safe to concluded that 'world' Morpheus is referring to is the 'material/physical 'world'. In other words what has has been pulled over our eyes to blind us from the truth is what we know think of as the 'real world'.

This realization, important as it may be is nothing new. The ancients, the great poets, the mystics, and the seers have always told us: "know thyself and you will know the truth". Socrates, Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, and all the others said the same thing "know thyself". This knowing denotes an internal search and this search is what Fuego's Journey is all about.

I welcome you to join me on this quest. To look within yourself and re-connect with your internal guide, your internal teacher, your internal friend. Let's go and burn 'Repress City'.
